The thing about growing up following the seasons of a TV show is that you get really attached to it. No, in fact, the word attached does not do justice to the feelings that you have for the TV show. “Bonded” is more like it. You wait every year for the next season to air and with time that show becomes part and parcel of your routine, your life. But the ratings of the show are snuffed out with time and eventually it comes to an end. You are eventually left with a heart-sinking feeling and friends encouraging you to divert your attention towards other shows.
Crowds all over the world felt this way last year, when after 15 seasons, 15 years of a strong relationship, American Idol came to an end. Lucky for all the fans, their prayers have been answered. The show will be sneaking its way to the television screens for a season 16. Only this time it will be airing on ABC rather than Fox.
Last year Fox broke hearts when it canceled American Idol and wrapped up the show for good. Initially, they were planning on bringing it back to life in 2020. It however, didn’t happen because Fox and Fremantle weren’t on the same page. Good thing ABC anchored up the ship of the show back to the surface.
Interestingly, the famous pop star Katy Perry has been selected as a judge for American Idol’s upcoming season.
Why did Katy decide to go for this gig despite declining similar offers in the past?
That’s something only she knows. Speculations suggest that Katy isn’t just doing this solely for breathing air back into American Idol. Instead, it is can be attributed to her first album that will make rounds on June 4th in a long time of four years.
Katy seems to be as game for judging the show as people are for it making its way back to TV sets. “I am honored and thrilled to be the first judge bringing back the American Idol tradition of making dreams come true for incredible talents with authentic personalities and real stories,” said the pop princess. “I’m always listening to new music, and love discovering diamonds in the rough — from mentoring young artists on my label or highlighting new artists on my tours, I want to bring it back to the music.”
From the scraps and bits, we have collected, Ryan Seacrest might be rejoining as the host. The decision about other judges is yet to be revealed. Many people are placing bets that the show would make it bigger and better than ever before this time.
Here’s to American Idol’s resurrection and to hoping that American Idol’s zombie wouldn’t be a brainless drag of a show.
