Restaurants are my favorite place to visit because eating out is the most popular activity for Pakistanis. Regardless of the quest to satisfy the taste buds, the 4 and 5 digit bill is too much. Being a food blogger means trying out new places every few days; a reason why I am broke most of the times. For all those times, here’s my list of budget friendly restaurants.
Burns Road Food Street ~
Bun Kebabs are one of the most popular roadside attractions of all times, and what better place to have this quick munch than from its origin, that is the very famous Burns Road. Just thinking about Bun Kebabs makes your mouth water and your stomach growl. Nothing can beat the unique taste of their ‘Haari Chutney’ and ‘Anday Walay Kebabs’. The Bun Kebabs are an entire experience in itself and they are not at all heavy on the pocket! Burns Road is not only known for its scrumptious Bun Kebabs, but you must try food items from Cafe Lazeez and Karachi Haleem.
In the heart of Boat Basin exists a cramped Shawarma joint. Shawarma wraps are a chunk of God’s gift. Thinly sliced chicken, rolled into a large piece of steamed flatbread will leave you craving for more. If not that, the deconstructed version of it is equally delicious with all the beautiful elements spaced separately in a tray!
Take a break from the fancy fine dining restaurants! We all know that some of the best foods in Pakistan, lies in its street food. Mirchili is more than just your average chaat corner. With an extensive menu that ranges from a number of Dosas to Chaana Chaat to Khawsay, it has a huge variety to offer. Its best for those days when you just want to binge on your favorite food without spending too much!
Chop Chop Wok ~
Squeezed between the dhabbaas, in the busy streets of Khadda Market, there is a small yellow eatery known as one of the hottest rice/noodle bars. Chop Chop Wok started at the top and is still going strong! What sets Chop Chop Wok apart is their “make your own three-step wok”, with such vast options and 180 unique combinations that fits your budget. After their success with the first outlet, they opened doors to another one at a casual corner in Badar Commercial.
