“My heart pounded as I saw the coupe part. Tears rolled down my eyes. Numerous crumpled wipes were around me. I wanted to eat eat more… I was stressed!”
Stress is the virus that feeds on the energy of its host; it wrenches the soul out of a person to have an existence of its own. The aftermath leaves the person miserable and misery, as we know, loves company. It’s the phantom that haunts your sleep and gets into tangles with the sense of reality and delusions. Stress is the edge of madness, one push and the person free falls into the abyss of crazy land. So it is only wise to initiate damage control before the irredeemable happens.
Following are the ways that might save you from a horrible fate as this:
Mediate. Sit and breathe, in and out: Listen to music, dance, and practice yoga, but do not sulk in the corner and camouflage in the darkness and get consumed in being stressed. Love and cherish every breath and feel for the beautiful things in life. And know there is light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how dark it is.
Journalize your feelings: When you can’t point out the roots of your emotional despair, this helps you reach out to the cause of your turmoil in the depths of your haze. This may help ease your racing mind.
Express the stress you feel: It is important to voice out your problems instead of feeling stressed. Talk about it rather than bottling it up and fuel the rage building inside. And always remember talking to a psychiatrist does not label you as a mental patient, rather it makes you count as a smart personage.
Avoid temporary fixes of solace: Cigarettes and alcohol may relieve the tension and pain for some time, but after that blissful stupor is evaporated, it all comes back with a vengeance in the form of a hangover. The state of oblivion vanishes and you realize that everything you accomplished was self-damaging. It does not let your problems disappear, running away is never the answer; either you accept it how it is, alter it if you can or just adapt to it.
Do something that makes you happy: Please your troubled spirit with a dose of happiness. Read a book, paint pictures, jog, spend time with loved ones, and go skydiving because “you only live once”. Break barriers and boundaries for yourself. Do what you love and be who you are. Don’t compromise on your wishes and defeat the voices in your head, clinch the game by doing the revolutionary act of loving yourself.
Don’t let the stress eat you up, save yourself and those around you and lets aspire to be #stressfree!
