Tell us about your profession. When did you start as a DJ and draw light upon your clothing line?
I started in radio in 2004 and am now currently on BBC Asian Network weekdays from 1:30-5pm. I set up my clothing line in 2014 and a year later expanded by adding NK Accessories to my brand
What/ who inspired you to take up your profession?
My mum! She was a music junkie and used to take me to watch movies when I was just 3. Growing up listening to music meant it was in my DNA so now I have a fab job where I get to play records!
One thing you would want to change about your work is…
I wish my workplace was slightly closer to my parent’s home. Other than that, I wouldn’t really change much. I Love my job!
Being content and happy is ultimate success in life.
A day away from work is like…
Kinda nice! We all need to have a break from work at times to recharge and regenerate.
What is the most common expectation from a DJ?
That you love every record you play! And this is not always the case.
Name your favorite activity to de-stress
It’s actually just listening to music and of course doing yoga
A day without a microphone would be like…
If you could go back in time, what is that one moment you would want to relive?
Watching Pakistan win the ICC Champions Trophy again!!
Comment on gender bias and scope in your profession
I do work in a male dominated industry but I never think about my gender or ever allow it to hold me back.
Your message for the youth
If you really want something bad enough, be prepared to put in some solid hard work. If you’re prepared to do that and not get put off by setbacks, you should be able to get out there and achieve your dreams. Best of luck! fielxxx
