Do you feel the excitement? Are you already defending your city and trolling the other cites? PSL 3 is less than four months away and since the time the PSL Draft finished, we can’t contain our excitement. The Draft took place in Lahore on 12th November, 2017 and all the teams were geared up ready to select a squad that could lead them to PSL glory. This year we have a new franchise named as Multan Sultans that will be captained by Shoaib Malik. A total of 501 players were available for auction this year (308 foreign and 193 local). The PSL Draft is pretty simple; each franchise selects players from the various categories they are divided into. However, the result surprised us. Here is how…
Karachi Kings squad revamp
This year they have done something different; they have let a lot of great players like Kumar Sangakara, Mahela Jayawardene, Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard, (I mean KAUN KARTA HAI AISAA!). And it is definitely a big mistake of letting such experienced players leave the team. Karachi Kings loss might turn out to be a gain for other Franchises.
Shahid Afridi leaves Peshawar Zalmi
This news has been floating around for a while and had left almost everyone in shock, as Javed Afridi owns the Zalmis. Shahid Afridi has Joined Karachi Kings, yes, you heard it right! Shahid Afridi comes to Karachi Kings. It’s been a very silent transfer but definitely there are some hidden tensions between Afridi and the Zalmi board.
Chris Gayle is not playing PSL 3
We all have heard about the Gayle Force. Although he has not been a big hit in PSL, we are aware of his abilities. To our amazement, he has not been bought by any of the franchises. WHO DOES NOT BUY CHRIS GAYLE? One of the franchise owners reason was Chris Gayle is not available for most of the games.
Three matches in Karachi
As put forward by Najam Sethi, the PSL semi-finals as well as the final will also take place in Karachi. Woah, it would be a very thrilling atmosphere if this actually happens. The finale of PSL will happen in Karachi; an important step forward in bringing international cricket back to Pakistan.
Enters the newest franchise ‘Multan Sultans’
Being the 6th team to take part in the PSL, (and the newest), they are already looking competitive. The team has hired Wasim Akram to guide them and Shoaib Malik as the captain. The entrance of a new team means PSL is getting bigger and better every year. The most intimidating factor of this team is the foreign player combinations such as Kieron Pollard, Imran Tahir and Sangakara.
Imran Tahir and Chris Lynn top picks
PSL Draft 2017 surprisingly proposed these two players were the top picks in the foreign category. Lahore Qalandars cashed in to get Chris Lynn which would make for an explosive pair with Brendon McCullum. Multan Sultans cashed in by getting Imran Tahir.
We can’t wait For PSL3 to start and with the teams ready with their finals squads, it’s all about patience. We are eagerly waiting for February to come so the madness can start. With Najam Sethi trying to get the finals in Karachi this year (Please Make this Happen!) this makes this even more exciting. So get your jerseys ready, get your cities flags out and wave them because PSL is just getting bigger and better every year.
Lekin Jo bhi Karlo, Jeetna Karachi nai is Dafa…
Let the games begin!
